New hospital buildings use autonomous robots to supply clean linens
In Denmark, we have both new extensions to existing hospitals, for example to Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, and five new ‘super hospitals’ on their way across the entire country. If all goes according to plan, the new buildings will all be ready in 2025. While some have been designed by Danish architects, for example by KHR Arkitekter, others are the work of star architects such as Dutch Herzog & de Meuron. Many of the projects include gardens that stimulate the senses and utilise the latest technology.
A visitor program on hospitals in Denmark deals with:
Rigshospitalet: Visit the new extension in a guided tour led by the architectural studio behind the building project
New extension to an older hospital from the ‘60s on the outskirts of Copenhagen, with focus on healing architecture
The new hospital in North Zealand: meeting with some of the people responsible for the planning/construction.
Køge University Hospital: guided tour, where you will learn about the first floor, as well as how the hospital works with technology, research and the wards. Hear more about the idea behind a total of 8,900 private rooms in the five new ‘super hospitals’.
12 new psychiatric hospitals are to be built in Denmark. Visit an award-winning psychiatric hospital (MIPIM award), completed in 2018. The basic philosophy is that it should be more reminiscent of a home than a hospital – a place where people feel safe in a difficult situation.
Visit the headquarters of the Capital Region of Denmark, where you can hear about new hospitals in the region.
